On Friday, June 5, 2026, members of the Rotary Club of Edmonton came together to support a school that has spent more than three decades changing the lives of Edmonton's youth. President-Elect Jason Bossert, Past Presidents Rod Karius and Neil Lang, and J.J. Tremblay, Chair of the Community Service Committee, met with Jeff Day, Communications and Partnerships at Inner City High School (ICHS), to present two cheques: a $5,000 donation from the Edmonton Rotary Club Foundation and a $2,000 donation from the Rotary Club of Edmonton, in support of the ICHS Nutrition Program and the school's 2026 Graduation Ceremony.
For over 30 years, ICHS has operated an independent, Alberta Education–accredited high school in central Edmonton, offering academic and arts-based classes to students aged 15 to 19 — and sometimes older, on a case-by-case basis. The school exists to provide opportunities for Edmonton's marginalized Indigenous and other urban youth to earn a high school diploma, develop skills that can lead to full-time employment, and build a future away from life on the street, so that every student can become a contributing member of the community.
What sets ICHS apart is its flexible but structured environment and small class sizes. Students receive individual and small-group support designed to address their unique needs and bridge gaps in their education. The school also provides essential wraparound supports — including hot lunches and snacks — that help students stay nourished, engaged, and ready to learn. It is these supports that the Club's contribution to the Nutrition Program will help sustain, while the donation toward the 2026 Graduation Ceremony will help this year's graduates celebrate a hard-earned milestone.
