brief bio for Tyler Sherard:
As Associate Director of Arts in Health at the University Hospital Foundation, and formerly as Executive Director of Friends of University Hospitals, Tyler Sherard has led teams, partnerships, and research initiatives that show how creativity can strengthen wellbeing, belonging, and civic vitality.  He holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Art and Design) from the University of Alberta.
 
summary of the presentation:
This presentation will explore how Arts in Health programs enhance patient, family, and staff well-being through creativity and connection.  We will also share how these programs advance the University Hospital Foundation’s mission by strengthening community engagement and philanthropic impact

McMullen Gallery:

Open since 1986, this public gallery is a haven to which anyone may retreat and relax, reflect, share a quiet visit, while viewing displays of visual art by individual artists, collectives, and organizations. 

Situated in the University of Alberta Hospital, McMullen Gallery aims to inspire, educate, and engage our audience – including patients, medical staff, hospital visitors and members of the general public. McMullen Gallery exhibits artwork in all media that is soothing, uplifting, humorous, and/or thought-provoking including but not limited to health-related subject matter.

 

Art Collection:

The University of Alberta Hospital Art Collection is displayed publicly throughout the hospital to provide patients, staff, and families with inspiration, comfort and distraction. The collection, which includes over 1800 artworks, enhances the healing experience in the Walter Mackenzie Centre, Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, and the Kaye Edmonton Clinic.
